No matter how sophisticated a manufacturer’s ERP technology solution may be, it still lacks the ability to capture tribal knowledge that exists across department silos and individuals. With conventional data management tools being unintuitive and difficult to use, team members find themselves frustrated and overwhelmed by siloed data, which leads to slow, poorly managed decision making. 

One area of the supply chain where this happens more often than organizations realize is their maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) management process. Typically managed on a plant by plant basis, there is little oversight regarding MRO inventory levels, usage metrics, or supplier performance.
